As we know that offensive security is the best training provider in Information Security field especially in Offensive side. yeah, attack and attack :). I love the way offsec teaching and I like the journey. After obtaining the OSCP, I’m interested to take the OSWP and OSCE certification. Might be I’ll take the OSWP then OSCE. that’s because OSWP is more possible to be taken than OSCE. Beside that, I like playing the Wireless attack too:).

As usual I must pay the offsec course by myself like I did for OSCP. So I need to prepare everything well. Based on information from the WiFu course, students need to build the self hosted lab and they recommend the compatible hardware below :

  1. Recommended Wireless Network Routers
    • D-Link DIR-601
    • Netgear WNR1000v2
  2. Recommended Wireless Cards
    • Netgear WN111v2 USB
    • ALFA Networks AWUS036H USB 500mW

I have ALFA AWUS036H from my wireless stuff collection some years ago. I need to find D-Link DIR-601, Netgear WNR1000v2, and Netgear WN111v2 USB devices although offsec asked me to use only one wireless network router and one wireless card. Yeah because I’d like to learn wireless attack through all of the hardware above.

I’ve tried to find and contact some vendors here but most of them said those devices are not available at this moment due to the products have been discontinued. Then I decide to order them through ebay although I know I’ll spend much money for shipping.

The order details ( price ) :

  1. D-Link DIR-601 ( item US $16.49 + Shipping US $20.49 + Import charges US $7.57 = US $44.55 )
  2. Netgear WNR1000v2 ( item US $12.50 + Shipping US $24.45 + Import charges US $7.17 = US $44.12 )
  3. Netgear WN111v2 USB ( item $9,88 AUD + Shipping $19,80 AUD= 29,68 AUD (equals US $22,25 )

Yeah, although total almost US $111, I’m sure worth it for a knowledge.

For D-Link DIR-601, Order date Sep 07, 2015 and Delivered on Sep 15, 2015.  for Netgear WNR1000v2, order date Sep 09, 2015 and Delivered on Sep 22, 2015. and for Netgear WN111v2 USB, order date Sep 17, 2015 and Estimated delivery Sep 22, 2015 – Oct 04, 2015.

Here are the device pictures :

I’m planning to sign up the WiFu course after all of the devices have been delivered.
